A clear, step-by-step guide to performing Umrah correctly.
Step 1: Ihram
- Purify yourself (ghusl)
- Wear Ihram clothing
- Make intention for Umrah
- Recite Talbiyah
Step 2: Tawaf
- Enter Masjid al-Haram
- Start at the Black Stone
- Circle Ka'bah 7 times counterclockwise
- Recite prayers during Tawaf
- Pray 2 rak'ahs near Maqam Ibrahim
Step 3: Sa'i
- Walk between Safa and Marwah
- 7 laps (Safa to Marwah = 1, Marwah to Safa = 2, etc.)
- Recite prayers
- Men: run between green markers
Step 4: Halq or Taqseer
- Men: Shave head (Halq) or trim hair (Taqseer)
- Women: Trim a fingertip's length of hair
- Umrah is now complete!
